Wood Green, The Animals Charity has opened the doors to its new charity shop at 6 Foundry Walk. Joined by the Mayor of Daventry, Councillor Mike Arnold, at the opening day on Thursday 10th October, staff and volunteers celebrated the latest addition to the town centre.

The charity’s high street presence will be more than just a shop for books, clothes and toys. It will be an opportunity to find out more about the work Wood Green does to bring pets and people closer together: providing life-saving care to homeless pets and supporting pet owners with a number of services including pet advice, behavioural training and more.

No stranger to the charity, Councillor Mike Arnold received animal welfare training from Wood Green some 30 years ago: “It’s a pleasure to see this location on our high street occupied by a charity. I’ve seen first-hand how Wood Green makes a real difference to the pets in our lives and I wish them all the very best with their new store. My two dogs, Jake and Rex, were both rehomed from charities and they’re a big part of my life, so of course they came along to visit too!”

Ralph Beevers, Head of Retail at Wood Green, is looking forward to welcoming the community: “Staff and volunteers will gratefully receive any unwanted clothing, books and bric-a-brac – and don’t forget to ask about Gift Aid. We offer a free collection and delivery service to make it as easy as possible for people to support us, and we are always looking for people to work with us. If you are interested in volunteering at the shop, please pop in and speak to us about the roles available.”

Wood Green helps and rehomes around 8,000 pets in need per year, which wouldn’t be possible without the support of the public through donations of stock, volunteering hours or financial support.
