Daventry Town Council named Council of the Year 2019

Daventry Town Council was named Council of the Year by the Northamptonshire County Association of Local Councils (NCALC) at its Annual General Meeting on Saturday 5th October, 2019.

As well as praise for its Chief Officer Deborah Jewell and its “dedicated and engaged councillors”, the council was recognised for the way it has embraced the opportunities presented by Local Government reorganisation in Northamptonshire.

As part of this unitary reorganisation, it is proposed that many services and assets currently run by Daventry District Council will in future be managed by Daventry Town Council. This will allow them to be delivered at a local level, and managed closer to the people of Daventry who use these assets and services. “This council recognises that its core role is to do what is in the best interests of its community, and to work hard to that end,” said Danny Moody, Chief Executive of NCALC in his Council of the Year Statement.

Mayor of Daventry Cllr Mike Arnold said, “Thank you to NCALC for this fantastic award, and to all our members for their hard work, passion and determination. In a year of much change in Local Government, I am proud to see Daventry Town Council recognised in such a way and look forward to the further opportunities that the future might bring.”
