Officers in Daventry are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in the Inlands area of the town on New Year’s Day.

Between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, January 1, a 33-year-old man was walking along Inlands towards London Road, when he heard footsteps behind him. As he turned around he was confronted by a man who demanded he emptied his pockets.

When the man refused, the offender swung his right hand, hitting the man on the side of his head and a brief scuffle took place before the man walked off. He later received medical treatment for his head injury at Northampton General Hospital. Nothing was stolen.

The offender is described as white, in his early 20s, about 5ft 11in, and of a slim build. He was wearing a dark hooded top with the top up, possibly a dark coloured snood which was covering his face, dark trousers and thick dark gloves.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 20000000118.
